GMS v.112 – Renegades: Jett

The first part of the Renegades update has been released in GMS! This update contains many new content, including Jett, the Thief Revamp, other skill changes and more. Read on! :) (Thanks to Fiel from Southperry.net for all the item and skill pictures/description/effects etc.!)

Of course there’s a new world selection screen. You can see a male and female Jett in it. So no, Jett’s not gender-locked!

Another thing that was updated is the Character Selection Screen. I think it looks really nice now! (Don’t mind the names, lol) It now also shows you two buttons. I’ll talk about those systems later in this post!

Jett

Before I start explaining you Jett’s basics, let me first show you her ”background” story. ”Jett has killed the king of her planet called Cerberus, therefor she’s wanted there. She tried to flee from Cerberus. She succeeded, until her ship crashed into the Maple World, near the Nautilus ship. Jett is still being searched for, and now she is chasing Burke, her former partner, to find the Core which was stolen by Burke.”

—-

Jett is the first (and only) GMS exclusive character. She’s a Pirate, and actually the same as Dual Blade and Cannoneer, a special Explorer. Jett uses a gun as primary weapon and an Core as secondary weapon. This core is equipped into the ”Shield slot” and gives extra stats. It upgrades every time you do a job advancement.

Jett’s Primary Stat is DEX, which is needed for the damage she deals. Her Secondary Stat is STR, which is needed for equipment.

Character Creation

Like you always do, the first thing you do is clicking the ”Create Character” button.

Now press the Jett button in the Character Creation screen, which is focusing on the Explorers (Thief), Jett and Phantom. As you can see, Phantom will arrive at July 12.

Let’s start the creation of Jett now!

The creation screen of Jett is unique.

Like I said before, Jett is not gender-locked! It is kinda weird that you can be a guy too though.

Unfortunately, the customization is VERY limited. The only thing you can change are the eyes.

After you’ve created your Jett, you can either watch him/her running on that cozy tree or just play..

Your adventure starts here! You start off with a tutorial. I made a video of it:

In short, the tutorial goes like this: You are Jett. You go to your ship. You crash on Coco Island. Burke behaves weird. You are on the Nautilus. You have to go see Kyrin.

Jett’s Exclusive Weapons

Next to the fact that Jett uses guns as primary weapon, some new guns were also added. I think they’re exclusively for Jett, but I’m not sure about that!

If you think I am copying this from Max (Orange Mushroom) or whoever, you’re wrong! I copied this from the MapleStory website.

Part-Time Job

A new system called Part-Time Job has been implemented. With this system you can let your characters work while you’re not logged onto them. They can gather herbs, ores, exp and more! The character you want to do a part-time job has to be at least level 30.

To open the Part-Time Job interface, click on the ”Part-Time Job” button, located at the right side of the character selection screen. This will open up the screen below.

Here you can see to which of your characters you have assigned a job. First, no characters have a job of course.

To give a character a job, simply click the button above, which opens the screen below.

Here you can select the character of your choice and you can select the job type:

As you can see, each job will grant you different stuff. When you’ve chosen the character and job type, simply click ”select”. Now your first character is working! You can give a job to three characters at a time.

You can end the job whenever you want, up to 6 hours. The longer your characters work, the better rewards you get. Note that if you cancel the job too early, no reward will be given!

When the job’s ended, press the ”Reward” button and talk to Ms. Appropriation, the Part-Time Job Clerk, to receive your rewards. For almost 4 hours of Resting, I got:

  • Ultra Vigor (40-minute) Weapon/Magic ATT +3, Movement Speed +3, Jump +3 for 40 minutes.
  • Effective Rest (30-minute) 1.3x EXP for 30 minutes.

When your characters are working on a part-time job, you can’t log in with them.

Character Cards

The Character Card system is another system that was implemented this update. Characters can earn special stats through this system, by putting cards into a deck. Level 30 is required for a character here as well.

To open the Character Card window, click on the button next to the Part-Time Job button.

You can view all of your cards you possess here. Each card has a different effect. The effect is based on the character’s type, job and card grade. Card grades are determined like this:

Level Lv.30-69 Lv.70-119 Lv.120-199 Lv.200
Grade B A S SS

You start off with two empty decks. By adding cards to a deck, effects will start working. Do this by clicking on a card.

As you can see, there’s one effect right now. Up to three effects will work per deck, and each deck will have a Deck Effect.

The deck effect, which you can see at the right-down corner of the screen, gives nice stats! When you add cards into your second deck, even more stats and another deck effect will work. But that’s not all! You can get even more deck effects at a time.

First, when you put three card with the same type (colour) in one deck, you’ll get a Unique Deck Effect. This doesn’t replace the current Deck Effect. So now you have two Deck Effects!

If you have another three characters with the same type, just put those in your other deck, and there you go, 4 Deck Effects (plus 6 other normal effects).

I think both of the decks will work at the same time. Every character on your account on that world can enjoy the same effects.

Down here is the list of all the normal effects available:

Level-Up Guide

From now on you’ll always know what to do with the new Level-Up Guide! Using this new system, you can check what the best quests are for your level, or the best training spots as well! Let me explain you how it works.

You can find the Level-Up Guide button right under the minimap and above the Quick Move button. There’s also a hotkey for the Guide, but that doesn’t work yet. When I press the key the guide’s attached to, the Events window will show up… Anyways, click the button or press the key to open the Level-Up Guide window! It will automatically open the page suitable for your level.

Since the page for level 140-200 is not done yet, I’ll just show you the level 90-94 page. You can view other level’s pages by searching for the right one at ”search by level”.

There are three sections in the guide:

  • Recommended Quests
  • Recommended Hunting Fields
  • Recommended Contents
It quite stands to reason, the Recommended Quests section shows you the quests suitable for your level. The Recommended Hunting Fields section shows you the best Hunting Fields you can train at, and the Recommended Contents section shows you the best Party Quests, Competitive Content (Monster Carnival) and such.
The ”Navigation” buttons is also a new feature, which I will explain to you later in this post.
If you don’t know what one of the Recommended Contents means or what you have to do there, simply click the button ”View Details” next to it. A small guide to the content will show up.

This is a very small guide, but there are bigger ones as well, let’s take Kerning Square for example. It’s 6 pages long. I made a GIF of it:

Press the ”HOME button when you’re done with reading :).

Navigation System

Tried everything to find an NPC, but still didn’t find it?  Then the all new Navigation System is your friend! It will help you locate quest destinations, maps, NPCs etc.! Just click on a button, and you’re set.

Here’s the Level-Up Guide picture again. So, we want to go to NPC Do Gong to accept a quest. Just click on the button ”Navigation” and an arrow will appear above your character’s head.

To reach Do Gong, we have to walk to the left, alright!

Look, there’s a portal. It says we have to use it.

The Navigation System even tells us that we have to travel by boat/plane to reach our destination! The arrow will then disappear. When you’re reached another continent, the arrow will appear again, since it knows your navigation is still turned on.

You can see if the navigation is on if this icon is at the top-left side of your screen. Right click the icon to disable navigation.

The ‘Navigation’ button can also be found in the Quest window.
