GMS v.125 – Tempest: Protector of Nova, Kaiser

title

Kaiser

The third update of Tempest has been released! This update contains the new playable warrior class: Kaiser. It also features   a new region, called Heliseum, a new boss, called Magnus and Hyper Skills! Finally, there are some small changes, and some new events have started. Please read on!

Kaiser World Selection

The new world selection background.

Protector of Nova, Kaiser!

Story

Long ago, the legendary Nova Warrior, Kaiser, protected Pantheon and the people of Grandis from Magnus, a power-hungry emissary of the Black Mage. The two powers collided, and in the end Magnus, along with his army of abominations, proved to be the stronger of the two. Faced with certain defeat, Kaiser unleashed an all-consuming attack, eradicating Magnus’s creatures and destroying his own physical form in the process. But his spirit lived on, waiting for the perfect host to receive his power.

A young Nova boy named Kyle forms the Heliseum Force with his friends Velderoth and Tear to protect the people of Grandis just as Kaiser did long ago. When Pantheon is in danger and all seems lost, Kyle finds himself infused with an unknown source of energy. Through Kyle, the great dragon warrior Kaiser is reborn!

Basic Information

Kaiser is the Nova warrior. Nova is a new race, and the Novas live in the world of Grandis. Like all warriors do, Kaiser needs Strength to become stronger. As primary weapon, he uses a two-handed sword, and he uses Dragon’s Essence as secondary equipment, which he needs to be able to fight.

Character Creation

MapleStory 2012-12-17 13-40-03-37

First of all, you click the Kaiser button. This will bring you to Kaiser’s customization.

MapleStory 2012-12-17 13-41-45-61

After you’ve chosen your character’s name, you can choose to be either male or female.

MapleStory 2012-12-17 13-42-43-61

For the customization of your character, there are only two hair styles available, eight hair colours, the normal skin tones, and that’s it.

MapleStory 2012-12-17 13-42-48-53

And then then, of course, there’s the glorious tree of awesomeness, which can hold all your characters running all over it and messing it up. Kaiser has also got his own statue thingy.

You can check Kaiser’s tutorial in the video above.

Morph Gauge and Dragon Link System

MapleStory 2012-12-18 20-38-17-00

Kaiser uses the Morph Gauge system. When attacking monsters using special attacks (below), the gauge fills up. When it’s filled entirely, you get a buff. If you’re in the second job, you can get the second buff, and when you reach the third job, you can get the third buff. So, the higher your job, the better the buff you can get. However, to get the higher buffs, you will need to fill up the gauge respectively two or three more times.

You can actually transform into Kaiser’s ancient dragon form! Upon reaching third job, you can transform into this awesome dragon by filling your gauge to the third buff.

MapleStory 2012-12-18 21-27-40-92

Below the Morph Gauge, there’s the Dragon Link window. The Dragon Link window shows special combos Kaiser can use to attack.  By using these skills, the Morph Gauge will fill up. Each combo consists of a few buttons: the attack button and the arrow keys. By tapping the buttons in the right order, your character will perform these moves. You can fill up the Morph Gauge with these skills. You unlock new special skills after each job advancement.

Pantheon & Heliseum

In this update, two new areas have been added: Pantheon and Heliseum. Both of these areas are in the new world of  the Novas: Grandis.

MapleStory 2012-12-21 18-41-40-52

To get to this new world, talk to the Interdimensional Portal located in Six Path Crossway (Pantheon: Great Temple Interior if you want to go back to the Maple World).

MapleStory 2012-12-21 18-34-58-46

Pantheon is the Nova race’s town. It also has some low-level training areas, which is used for Kaiser’s (and Angelic Buster’s) tutorial.

MapleStory 2012-12-21 18-35-01-68

Heliseum is actually more interesting. Heliseum is a level 90+ area, and offers some new quests. This place also features a new boss, Magnus (see the article about Magnus below).

MapleStory 2012-12-21 18-42-31-02

Now you may be wondering how you can get to these two maps on the world map, since they are not on Maple World’s map. Well, to do this, simply click the button ‘View Other World‘ located on the upper left corner of the world map.

Tyrant’s Castle & Magnus

MapleStory 2012-12-21 18-35-01-68

Tyrant’s Castle is the castle in the far east of Heliseum. Tyrant’s Castle is an area for people of level 100 and over. It features a lot of quests, which all together lead to the final boss fight: Magnus!

Magnus is a new boss, also for people of level 100 and above (must be in a party), and he is level 160. As I said above, Magnus resides in Tyrant’s Castle.

While fighting Magnus, you have to be in a certain distance from Magnus, because he has a sort of shield. When you’re outside this ‘shield’, he can not be hit.

After you and your party members have defeated Magnus, he will drop Shadow Merchant Coins. These coins can be traded in for Nova and Tyrant gear, as well as Kaiserium weapons:

  • Cursed Kaiserium: Two-Handed Sword; Req. Lv 150, STR 999; STR/DEX/INT/LUK +50; ATT +250. Untradeable after equipped.
  • Liberated Kaiserium: Two-Handed Sword; Req. Lv 150, STR 999; STR/DEX/INT/LUK +200; ATT +400. Untradeable.
  • Nova Cloaks: Req Lv.110; STR/DEX/INT/LUK +30, ATT/M.ATT +17, DEF/M.DEF +70; 1 upgrade available, unhammered, untradeable.
  • Nova Boots:Req Lv.110; STR/DEX/INT/LUK +22, ATT/M.ATT +15, DEF/M.DEF +50; 1 upgrade available, unhammered, untradeable.

  • Tyrant Belts:Req Lv.150; STR/DEX/INT/LUK +50, ATT/M.ATT +25, DEF/M.DEF +105; 1 upgrade available, unhammered, untradeable.

Hyper Skills

Hyper Skills have been added for the Hero classes and Kaiser! Hyper Skills are skills for characters of level 140 and above. The skills are divided into three categories: Stat Enhancing Passive Skills (S.P.), Skill Enhancing Passive Skills  (P.P.) and Attack/Buff Active Skills (A.P.).

Hyper Skills AP

Each category has its own SP, and you get a certain amount of SP at the levels stated in the picture above. Note that every Hyper Skill has a Master Level of 1, so you won’t need that much SP.

MapleStory 2012-12-19 01-22-04-45

To access the Hyper Skills window (you have to be level 140 or over), click the green button which says “Hyper” in your Skill Inventory (Default Key: K). You can then browse through the skills, shown below.
